(Late) New Year Reflections
Since the solstice, I've been taking some time in the 'in between' to reflect, rest and reset. I'm only just emerging fully and that's fine by me. Slow is good. Slow and quiet is pretty radical in these times.
Some changes are afoot here. Those of you who know me, will know I work a portfolio career of which coaching is one of the jigsaw pieces. After a little bit of soul-searching, I decided that freelance copywriting had become a piece that didn't fit the puzzle anymore. Words matter, and I want my words to work for the benefit of people and planet, but I also have bills to pay. So, I've swapped freelancing for a part-time role as a charity copywriter and feel much better for it. This leaves me more space and time to give love and attention to this coaching practice as well as to my own writing. A little reshuffle can make a big difference.
Over the next couple of months I'll be re-working my offering on here (with some new branding to come too) to be more aligned with coaching for writers. Writing is my life, so speaking, writing and workshopping about the joys, struggles and intricacies of this is where I can add value. I'll also be offering workshops about making words work for the change in storytelling and dominant narrative that we all need to see on a wider level.
I've joined the Climate Coaching Alliance and I'm carrying on with mounds of personal, creative exploratory work from clowning to ecstatic dance, and from working with ceremony and ritual, to coach training in bigger group dynamics.
Lastly, instead of resolutions (which thankfully seem to be going out of fashion) I took some time to write a Personal Manifesto. Basically, it's your WHY and HOW (you want to be in the world) set out in writing and pinned up somewhere for the moments when you're tired/wobbling/people-pleasing/about to give up/think you're not worth it/feeling unloved/tired of the world or all of the above. My Personal Manifesto has rocket powered my sense of clarity, purpose and direction - more on this soon.
It's a privilege to be able to take time out for bigger picture thinking. If you're not in that place and January has already overwhelmed you, here's a good question to ask:
🌟 Given the reality of where I am right now, what is the next best action I can take?
