What to expect from an introductory call

If you’d like to work with me as your coach, then we’ll arrange an introductory call first. Personally, I like to know what to expect and what’s expected of me in these situations. So here’s a guide as to what will happen when you book a call.

Why offer an Introductory Call?

Simple, 1-2-1 coaching is a big investment and you deserve the chance to weigh up whether I’m the right coach for you, or not, without any pressure.

You can read all my blogs and follow me on socials, but the real test of chemistry and comfort is a conversation. It also helps me. If I think we’re not a good match (perhaps you want more of a mentor than a coach), I can let you know and signpost you in the right direction.

You’ll also have questions, and this is the place to ask them. Each person who is looking for coaching comes for a different reason and your questions will be unique to you. Are you a caregiver who needs to know about the cancellation policy? Or are you worried about an upcoming project taking over and not allowing you to take up the sessions? Maybe you’re wondering how many sessions you need. Whatever it is, we can work it out with an open conversation.

What happens in an Introductory Call?

We get to know each other. You tell me why you’re here and what you’re looking to change or resolve. I’ll answer any questions you might have about how coaching works, what to expect, how we’ll work together etc. And you can ask anything you like about me and my practice.

If the above is clear and we have time, I’ll offer you a taster coaching question or two. This is not going to solve your ‘big why’ but it might help you get clear on your reasons for being there, or simply to explore the issue a little more. The best thing is, it will SHOW you what coaching is and what it feels like, even if briefly.

Once we’re both happy we’ve asked and answered everything that’s necessary, you’re welcome to talk about packages and sessions (all the info is here), but if you don’t raise this, I’ll say thanks for coming and let you get back to your day.

Is this a sales call?

No. I don’t believe in pushy sales talk. I also hate being put on the spot, so I don’t do it to other people. After the session you’ll get an email thanking you for coming, with the option to book your first session or not. I’ll ask you for some feedback, but you’re not obliged to give any, it’s just a nice help for me if you do.

I’ll also include a sign up to my mailing list in the email and a link to any upcoming ‘honesty box’ workshops.

That’s it. If you don’t opt in to anything, you won’t hear from me again. If you have more questions, you can let me know. Or if you want to sign up but not right now, let me know that too and I’ll hold any discount I’ve offered you.

So don’t be afraid, go ahead and get in touch - make change happen for you.
